Putting your MSN to Work

I’ve been noticing a new icon showing up on my MSN Messenger contact list lately. Justin messaged me about it and got me to join the bandwagon. Evidently, for those users which choose to participate, Microsoft will donate a portion of the marketing revenue when conversations are conducted by users with the special icon (or embedded code in your MSN display name) to some cause.

The campaign (http://im.live.com/Messenger/IM/Home/) is called: “I’m” – I’m making a choice, or I’m making a difference, etc.

Here are the causes you can choose from (click a logo to go to Microsoft’s page for each cause):

Sports and Slapping

Jeana and I were discussing all the slapping of behinds that happens in sports. Specifically, we were watching the NCAA mens basketball tournament when this topic came up. I have this question:

Why is it acceptable for one man to slap another man’s behind on the basketball court (or any court of your athletic choosing) when it is unacceptable to do it at other times?

I’m not lobbying here for the acceptability of slapping off the court. I’m just questioning what society has accepted as okay on the court.

For instance, if I were to go out to lunch with two male coworkers, can I slap one on the back-side and say, “Nice ordering of those fries Sean” or “Now get up there and place your order Brad – you can do it”? No I cannot. Nor would I want to. It’s just down-right unacceptable.

Old Site

I’ve relocated my old site temporarily to http://dav1.scottsbaldwin.com. If you need to find any thing from my previous site, change the expected URL from www.scottsbaldwin.com to dav1.scottsbaldwin.com

Making the move to WordPress

I’ve finally decided to switch my web site over to be a blog, rather than maintain my blog and web site separately. I’m not quite sure what I’m going to do about importing my old Blogger posts. I may just keep the files out there at blog.scottsbaldwin.com for a while until I decide what to do.

One reason for making the switch is that I feel my resume/portfolio based site is pointless now that I’m not looking for a job. And I’d rather have the traffic coming to www.scottsbaldwin.com instead of blog.scottsbaldwin.com.

Here is a link to my old blog: http://blog.scottsbaldwin.com/journal.
