Audrey, It’s Your Birthday!

Audrey’s birthday was last Monday, May 21st. She turned 4 years old. I can’t believe that she is already 4. We love having her in our family. She got a new bike for her birthday and quickly figured out how to ride it. Granted, it has training wheels and she would practice in the store with Jeana when they would go to the store.

Audrey made some invitations (Princess invitations) for her friends to come have a party. She invited Ocean, Jackson, Kate, and Lucas.

Jeana stayed up until 1am on the morning of Audrey’s birthday decorating the Cinderella cake. The cake was a big success with Audrey when she woke up and saw it on the counter in the kitchen. The cake was so yummy – it was chocolate, and it tasted even better with mint chocolate chip ice cream!

Audrey and Kate went out into the garage to ride their bikes. Later in the evening we across the street into the cul-de-sac so Audrey could get out and ride her bike. She started pedaling out of the garage and when she got to the sloped driveway she started speeding toward our Jeep parked in the street. At this point, familiarity with the brake was non-existent. No damage was done to Audrey, neither was any done to the Jeep.

1950s Wife

Jeana and I often joke about the typical 1950s wife. I have to say that I’m a really lucky husband. Last week, Jeana decided to make fettuccine from scratch. Here are some action shots of the pasta making process. Oh, and if you haven’t had Jeana’s fresh, home-made bread (with freshly ground wheat flour) you’re really missing out. Couple that bread with some fresh freezer jam, and mmmmmmmmmm, yummy!

Summer Fun

Jaden, our neighbor, came over with her friend Leah, and helped water our flowers in the front yard for about an hour. We only had one watering can so plastic cups were used instead. Cute kids.

Jeana and Audrey got new flip-flops for Mother’s Day. They were a present from Audrey. Audrey did really good to keep a secret – or so I thought. Jeana told me after the fact the Audrey slipped and told Jeana that she (Audrey) got some new sandals, but that it was a surprise for Mother’s Day.

Jeana order some garden dividers from the square-foot gardening folks in Utah. It’s a shame that the peas didn’t survive for this growing season – I really love peas from the garden. Tomatoes seem to grow well here, until Kate picks them prematurely. Our carrots are growing well, and we noticed Friday that a cucumber is actually growing!

Disney on Ice

This is from Audrey:

We saw Belle, but not Pocahontas. We saw Sleeping Beauty and Mulan, but not Shan Hu (I have no idea how to spell that). We saw not Snow White’s witch. We saw Ariel. We saw Ursula, she looks like an octopus. Ursula’s a girl.

I went with Ocean, she’s my friend.

The skaters would skate by and everyone would wave to them, as if the skaters were waving to each child personally.

Audrey really wanted me to include the picture of a princess, so here is Cinderella.
