If you already think I brag about my kids too much, you definitely should not read this entry. On October 22nd our ward (Church) did a primary program where all the children 12 and under sing the songs they’ve been working on for the year and recite scriptures or say their little parts. Let me back up a little bit. Two weeks prior to this I was ambushed by two of the primary leaders (Andrea and Megan) who asked me if our family would sing a song for the program. I told them that I didn’t sing, but they said that they wanted to reward Audrey for learning all the songs so well and if we just put her up in the front, people wouldn’t hear me. So, not wanting Audrey to miss out, I agreed to do it. The next week we worked on the song a ton and made sure that Audrey felt confident enough with it that she wouldn’t care if we sang with her or not. Then, in the practice Audrey decided she wanted to sing without us and she did great, so we were off the hook! Now… back to October 22nd: The song was, “An angel came to Joseph Smith.” All the primary children sang the first two verses and Audrey sang the 4th on her own. It took her a little while to get to the microphone, so half way through the first verse, a loud 4 year old voice came through the microphone singing along with everyone else. Then, they all dropped off and Audrey continued to sing loud and confident, “And now I’ll read the sacred book. And then I’ll understand, that Heavenly Father loves us all, in each and every land.” She did so good. After the program, Scott asked her what it was like to talk in the microphone and she said, “Dad, it was awesome!” Two of our friends told me that Audrey made them cry when she was singing. I’ve never been so proud of my child for making someone cry. Kate was such a cutie during the whole program. She was singing along with the kids for most of the songs even though she was sitting in the congregation with us. Here’s a clip of the girls practicing the song.

Okay, now for Kate’s funny story. A few weeks ago we had corn for dinner and Kate was just going down on it. The next day, I went to change a stinky diaper of Kate’s. You can probably see where this is heading and you can feel free to stop reading at any time, but I’ll keep it clean. Anyway, while changing her diaper, I was about to say, “Holy Corn!” I got as far as, “Holy -” when Kate finished my phrase with “Ghost!” It was pretty cute. Earlier in the day we had been reading scriptures and Scott pauses at certain phrases in the scriptures sometimes to let the girls finish off the phrase. I was reading 3 Nephi 28:18 and I read, “and as many as were baptized did receive the [pause],” and Kate said, “Holy Ghost.” She’s a challenge at times, but she’s learning so much right now. What a cutie!
I almost cried just reading that blog. Hey Jeana, how long has it been since you checked out our site? You got tagged.
How cute is that! I just love your girls and you guys. You are great parents.
I saw that I got tagged on your site. i just haven’t gotten to it yet and I have about 3 more things I need (or Scott needs) to blog about here. Plus, I feel kind of dumb doing it here since it is technically Scott’s blog. We need a more inclusive name for our blog.
Scott!!! Looks like things are going well for you. I was in Austin two weeks ago. I tried to call you but the cell phone number I had wasn’t working. Send me an email, I would love to catch up.
