I don’t know if “Katie” will ever be a nickname for our Kate, but for now, when we need her name to take two syllables, we just call her “Kate Girl.” Today is the official day, but we celebrated on Monday since Grandma and Grandpa were here. Audrey, Kate, and Grandpa were singing, ” Happy Birthday to Kate.” Grandpa paused when they got to the, “Happy Birthday dear -” part. And Audrey and Kate carried on without a break, “Kate Girl. Happy Birthday to you.” Kate is so much fun right now and always full of expression. She woke up nice and happy Monday morning. When she got to the bottom of the stairs and saw the balloons, streamers, and sign, she yelled out, “It’s my birthday!” We started out the day by playing in the back yard on their early Christmas present from Grandma and Grandpa and blowing bubbles. Audrey took this cute picture of Grandma, so I just had to include it.
Then we headed to Toys R Us to play on the toys there. Audrey gave Kate all her attention and Kate ate it up.
Dad and Grandpa were golfing all morning, so when they got home, Kate finally got to open her presents. Audrey was a great helper with the unwrapping part. Kate was very good at the “thank you” and hugging part.
Kate got clothes, books, glass slippers, a Belle baby, and a princess blanket.
For dessert, we had Dora cake and ice cream. Wow! What an awesome cake!
So, I’m feeling a bit nostalgic right, so I just watched a little video that Scott made when Kate was first born. Kate watched it with me a couple of times and she said, “Oh no! Kate’s sticking her fingers up her nose!” (right at the end). Pay no attention to the crying mom in the beginning. Who would have thought something so sweet and innocent would turn out to be such a sassy little girl?
Click the image below to watch the movie of Kate just after she was born. The movie is about 14MB so it will take some time to download. Right-click the image below and select “Save Target As…” to download the movie to your computer. Then open the downloaded copy from your computer using something like Windows Media Player.
That is so sweet. She is a doll. They just grow up so fast!!! Totally different having a C-section. You get to hold your baby.
What a sweet little girl! I wish I lived closer so I could give her a big squeeze. I am glad she had a good birthday, and that cake is definitely something to brag about! WOW. Olivia needs to play with Kate again – they would be so fun to watch.
Happy b-day from the Boise bunch, what a fun swing set!
Wish i was there!
What a darling little video. It’s pretty crazy how fast our kids grow. Wait until she’s almost 15! Jeana, you looked so good after just having a baby. How do you do it?
Furthermore, it really makes me homesick to see green grass in December…
