Isn’t she awesome?

Today Tricia, Suzanne and I went for a walk. I asked Audrey if she wanted to ride her bike. Last time we tried this, it was disastrous. She would get off her bike every two feet and walk it and if I tried to help her, she would scream that I was making her go too fast. We ended up going home about 2 minutes into the walk that time. She’s been doing a lot better lately though, so I thought it might work today. She did awesome! She was riding ahead of us most of the time and kept going up and down driveways. Driveways were usually places that she would get off and walk her bike before, but she was such a trooper today. When she got back to our house (a little ways ahead of us), I looked up to see that she had fallen over in our driveway. I didn’t want to make a big deal of it, so I yelled, “Phew! Good thing you were wearing a helmet.” She picked up her bike and walked it up to the garage and seemed fine, but by the time Kate, Tricia and I caught up to her, she had her head down and I could tell that she was crying. I picked her up and I knew she wasn’t hurt. I think she was just tired from her long ride. We went back and clocked the mileage tonight and she rode for 2 miles. Isn’t she awesome? I love that girl.

Tonight the whole family went out and rode together. Audrey was falling off her bike left and right and it didn’t phase her at all. Scott was doing wheelies and jumps and Kate wanted to be just like him. She was so funny jumping up and down on her big wheel. She’s a little dare devil. At one point, she was standing on the seat, holding onto the handle bars as she rode down a little slope. She tanked it a few times too. Thank goodness for helmets!

I like to ride my bicycle

Jeana sold her old GT Timberline on craigslist this week. My brother, Eric, asked me about two years ago when I was going to pony up and buy her a new bike and get rid of the dinosaur she has been riding. I didn’t realize how much attachment Jeana had to this bike. She purchased it at Eagle Bike Shop in Rexburg, Idaho 83440 after working all summer getting ready for college. She must have created a special bond.

I was working from home the day she sold it. A lady showed up, paid cash, and drove off with this old friend. Jeana walked into the kitchen with a frowny face and sniffing her nose. I thought at first that maybe she was sad because she didn’t make the sale. After all, selling this bike was necessary for her to earn money for a new bike. Instead of sadness from losing a sell, she was moping because her old friend was speeding away in some stranger’s car.

Oh well. Jeana’s mourning was short because yesterday she sold our water softener (which we’ve been storing since 2003) and today she purchased a new friend, I mean bike. We went for a quick ride tonight over by the Holland’s new house. Jeana was so cute bouncing on her bike like a trampoline (the novelty of a front shock is something we all must experience).

Easter

We had such a fun Easter. On Saturday we went to an Easter egg hunt at our Church. Audrey just took off with her friend, Ocean, running around and getting tons of eggs, while Kate stayed closer to me. She still got plenty of eggs though.

The girls got some beautiful spring dresses to wear on Sunday.

Earlier in the week, Audrey had an egg hunt at preschool too, so I vowed not to get very much candy for them since they would get it from a billion other sources anyway. So, instead, I put sidewalk chalk and bubbles in their baskets. We still somehow ended up with more candy than any of us needed, but oh well.

Camping at Lake Somerville

We went camping a couple weeks ago with Jeff and Brenna and Adam and Jamie. This camping trip was much better than our last outing. We had great weather, and there were two trees in our campsite that made for some excellent slacklining. The slacklining was setup all evening long, and we set it up again Saturday morning. Jeana nailed the slackline for the first time ever, that is, she got up on and walked all the way across the slackline with no assistance! We were all so proud. Adam also got across the slackline, and Jamie was really close.

We took a walk down by the lake so the kids could touch the dirty water. Jeana wanted the kids all looking at the water together with their backs facing us. This was as close as we got them to posing.

Jeana is determined to take a picture of the girls sleeping on every campout. On the first attempt, Kate wasn’t quite asleep.

We took our bikes and the Burley so that we could go for a ride on Saturday morning. Jeana showed how tough she is by pulling the girls the whole time up and down some big hills. Note that in this picture Jeana is riding her old friend, the green GT Timberline. Since then, Jeana has craglisted that bike and purchased a new one. Pictures of the new bike will be posted soon.

“Mmmm…Bear Yummy!”

A new Einstein Bros. Bagels opened next to the gym that I teach at a few months ago. Ever since it opened up, Audrey has asked if we could go there. My usual responses are, “Maybe we can on another day” or “We just don’t have time today.” Finally, a couple of Wednesdays ago after my class, I walked out and saw a sales guy eating an Einstein’s bagel and I just had to have one.  So, I picked the girls up from the kid’s club and asked them if they wanted to go get bagels.  You would have thought I had just asked them if they wanted to go to Disney Land with how excited they were.  So, we went and got cinnamon and sugar bagels with honey almond shmear on top. Kate kept exclaiming, “Mmmm… Bear Yummy!”  I personally believe she’s saying, “Mmmm… Very Yummy!”  However, Audrey is convinced she is saying, “Baa Yummy!” which makes no sense, but we’ve just agreeed to have our own opinions on that matter. It was so nice to just sit there and relax and not think about all the millions of places I should be or the millions of things I should be doing.  It honestly was so relaxing………. well, at least for the first 40 minutes.  Then, I started to get ancy.  So, I would sneak bites of their bagels while they weren’t looking; not because I was hungry;  just so I could get us out of there sometime before Kate’s nap.  I have pictures on my cell phone, but have no idea how to get them off.  So, once I get Scott to get them off for me, I’ll add them here.
