I like to ride my bicycle

Jeana sold her old GT Timberline on craigslist this week. My brother, Eric, asked me about two years ago when I was going to pony up and buy her a new bike and get rid of the dinosaur she has been riding. I didn’t realize how much attachment Jeana had to this bike. She purchased it at Eagle Bike Shop in Rexburg, Idaho 83440 after working all summer getting ready for college. She must have created a special bond.

I was working from home the day she sold it. A lady showed up, paid cash, and drove off with this old friend. Jeana walked into the kitchen with a frowny face and sniffing her nose. I thought at first that maybe she was sad because she didn’t make the sale. After all, selling this bike was necessary for her to earn money for a new bike. Instead of sadness from losing a sell, she was moping because her old friend was speeding away in some stranger’s car.

Oh well. Jeana’s mourning was short because yesterday she sold our water softener (which we’ve been storing since 2003) and today she purchased a new friend, I mean bike. We went for a quick ride tonight over by the Holland’s new house. Jeana was so cute bouncing on her bike like a trampoline (the novelty of a front shock is something we all must experience).

  1. Nice bicycle! You’ll have fun zooming down the trails this summer on it.

  2. I’m more of a cruiser than a mountain biker. (My bike has white wall tires.) So Jeana, I’m happy to play with your girls if you want to accompany the guys next time they bike at Walnut Creek Park on a Saturday morning.

  3. I need a new bike. Dallen is riding mine that we purchased when we were first married, and I ride Brad’s old one from about the same time. They are both close to 20 years old. Yikes!

  4. I feel the same about selling our home:(By the way, your old house in South Jordan is up for sale again.  I think that is 3 or 4 since you guys.

  5. I could take you on some fun mountain bike rides in Boise! The next thing you need is egg beater pedals.

  6. Becca,
I don’t know why I would say “no” to that offer…unless I was worried about humiliating myself in front of the boys. But my desire to ride far out weighs any humiliation. So, thanks.
