Kate’s 3!!!

Kate had her third birthday on November 29th.  She got a new bike that she is a little dare devil on.  She rode it around the kitchen over and over again and would turn the corners without even slowing down.  She crashed a bunch of times and got a lot of bruises, but she kept getting back on.  After quite a few crashes, she asked me to get her helmet out for her.

After opening presents and having breakfast, we headed to Austin Park ‘n Pizza.  Unfortunately, most of the fun stuff is outside and it ended up being rainy, windy, and cold that day (at least for Texas).  And even more unfortunate was the fact that you had to be 40 inches tall to ride anything.  (Kate’s only 37 1/2 right now – which apparently puts her in the 75th percentile.  Who would have thought we would have a kid above the 10th percentile for height.)  So, we had lots of fun, but I felt bad for Kate missing out on stuff that Audrey got to do.

Kate loved driving the cars and playing the video games.  Audrey, however was not a very big fan and mostly just whined to be done with the motor cross as soon as she sat down.

Since I have a big ol’ belly right now, I couldn’t climb or do much of anything, so I had to live vicariously through Scott.  He was still complaining about his soreness from the Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving, so I had to force him onto the rock wall.  I tried forcing Audrey too, but she wouldn’t do it.  What’s wrong with my family?

This is the one and only ride Kate got to go on.  She almost fell out right when the train started because she was posing for a picture.

After a big down pour, we went out and played mini golf.  Kate abandoned her club pretty early on and Audrey made up her own rules of hitting the ball while it was still rolling and picking it up to put it in the hole, so Scott pretty much played by himself.

The main thing the girls wanted to see from the moment we drove into the parking lot was this castle.  That was the whole reason we were even on the mini golf course.  They were pretty disappointed when they discovered that they couldn’t go inside it.

After the castle Audrey abandoned her club for a while too, so I started playing for her.  Then, I looked over at Kate who was in her own world.  Sometimes she thinks she’s Ariel from The Little Mermaid.  This is her singing on the rocks, “I don’t know when. I don’t know how.  But I know something’s starting right now. Watch and you’ll see. Some day I’ll be.  Part of your….WORLD!”

The go carts and the tea cups were the two saddest things for Kate to miss out on.  She really wanted to do them.  Scott got so dizzy on the tea cups that he couldn’t even wave to us.  If you look at the picture you can tell he’s waving to someone, but it’s not us.  I think it was actually the entrance gate he was waving at.

Kate wore herself out nicely.

And of course, an Ariel cake.  That last candle took a lot of tries.  Good job Kate!  Happy 3rd!

Thanksgiving

The Macey’s day parade didn’t quite hold enough attention for Audrey and Kate, so they put on their own parade around the kitchen while I prepared food and Scott was off playing in the turkey bowl.

I have to admit, I enjoyed their parade much more than the one on t.v.  I’m not quite sure what they were going for with their costumes, but  I thought they were very creative.

The Harmans and Hollands joined us for dinner, which was awesome.  We have some good cooks for friends!

Audrey knew that the Bird’s went camping over Thanksgiving break and so about three weeks before, she asked if we could set up tents in the backyard on Thanksgiving night.  I’m pretty sure that I said, “Maybe,” and then forgot about it.  Audrey of course didn’t forget about it, so around 9:00, after everyone left she reminded me that I “promised” them that we could sleep in the tent.  Scott was not at all excited about it, but for some reason I decided that that precise moment was the time to start following through on promises.  So, we went out and set up the tents and got to listen to the rain hitting the tent off and on all night.  It ended up being a really warm night despite the rain.

Musicians in the making

I love my cute little family!  This is how I found them one night after dinner.

Kate was totally rockin’ out here. She learned her moves from her dad.

Scott even got to be a guest teacher at Kate’s preschool for music time. Suzanne decided that we should call him Scott Songs, like Steve Songs on pbs kids. By the way, did you know that Steve Songs is the same Steve from Blues Clues back in the day (at least according to Suzanne).

The Holiday of a Million Celebrations

Yes, we do still have a blog.  And yes, I realize that Halloween was over a month ago, but I have to at least document what my kids were dressed up as. I don’t know why though.  I’m sure it will be the same as next year and the year after and the year after.  I guess princesses just never get old.

So we started out our festivities with the IBM Fall Festival.

In the middle of the week, we went to Sandra’s Halloween play group.  Then on Halloween we went to Old Settlers Park for their annual carnival/festival celebration.

On Halloween night, we went Trick or Treating and then to Sandra’s again for another party.

And on the day after Halloween, we went to the Church for our Trunk or Treat.

I think we go to more celebrations around Halloween than we do at Christmas time.

So, now that we have to make up for over a months worth of blogging, prepare yourself for what the Waye’s refer to as some major blogorhea.
