After 7 1/2 years, we parted with a dear friend. Our friend never had a name, but took us on many vacations and adventures. I will miss the V8 engine with 250+ horsepower and a rugged body able to haul a kayak and mountain bikes.

But, families grow, and cars don’t. Such is life. We have replaced the Jeep with a van formerly known as Linda – Linda Love. I’m not sure the name will carry on with us as the owner because our cars just don’t have names. I realized that I don’t have a picture of the exterior, but here are a few of our trip after the purchase.

One of the best features of the van is that the DVD system for the passengers can be separate from the rest of the sound system in the front. This means that Jeana and I don’t have to listen to all the princess movies for 23 hours of driving. Instead, we give the girls the headphones in the back, then we enjoy Harry Potter in the front.
Jeana quickly learned one bad thing about the van – she just can’t turn around to give the kids everything they demand. In the van, she had to unbuckle her seat belt and walk back and forth at least 10 times before she had finally lost her patience with that process.

I fear for Kate’s teenage years. She likes the volume cranked on her headphones. I guess I better start tolerating music of the younger generations now so that I’m not an ornery old dad in 10 years.
