Overview
This Web site focuses on the last half of the life of Gilbert Belnap, starting just before 1850, including his arrival in the Salt Lake valley. The bulk of the content on this site is taken from numerous writings contained in Gilbert’s own journals. Pictured below are the generations that have preceeded me from the time of Gilbert Belnap up to the present.


Gilbert Belnap is my third great-grandfather. He was orphaned in Canada at the age of 10.


William James Belnap was the first son of Gilbert and Henrietta Belnap.


John Austin Belnap was the seventh of 14 children.


Thelma Belnap was the oldest of six girls whose father (John Austin) died when she was just 12 years old.


Patricia Beattie, my mother, is the youngest child of Thelma Belnap.
